Whoa Discovery #2

When you introduce yourself as an international student from Singapore, the first response you are going to get is, "You're from Nanyang?" Sounds cool hur? Probing further, you realise NTU is such a freaking famous school around Asia that I myself don't realise the huge impact, even though I had read that yar, NTU is in Asia's [or World, yar most probably World] top 50 for universities. But so what? You know, NUS and SMU are so popular in local minds. But guess what, you tell the other students about these 2 other schools, they most probably hear it for the very first time, and from their expression, they really couldn't be bothered with the other 2. Pretty cool, yar? But what does this mean? It means that Singapore is really sooo into the foreign talent thingy. It works hard to have a world famous school so that foreign students queue to come here and study. While poor students like us graduate from NTU and the local employers probably won't give a damn you are from the top 50 universities. To heck with that, they will think, and they might rather take a more open-minded study-abroad graduate from a wulu university! Knnbccb. How come our country so screwed. I'm from the top 50 unis in the world leh. Give a chance leh. Quoting my helpful coordinator who tried to explain to my professor about my prerequisites:

Don't worry a thing. These guys are from the very best in Asia. They study business major classes ever since year 1, which are equivalent to our year 3s. These guys are smart. They are good enough for your class.
Very best hur? Smart hur? Explain to our local employers lor. They think we are 'just average'. Sigh.
